What a week!
First the moon wanted to take the sun away from us, and then we taught adults decimal fractions, but one step at a time.
We took part in the most important astronomical event in Poland in 2022 - a partial solar eclipse. Our Montessori Academy turned into an astronomical observatory for one day, all thanks to Zosia's dad, whose hobby reaches higher than the clouds.
Before just observing the solar eclipse, we learnt some interesting facts about astronomical phenomena, and got to know the equipment for observing the sky. We recalled the structure of the Solar System and studied a map of the Moon. Finally, of course, the highlight, watching the Moon obscure the Sun. Thanks to special filters to prevent damage to our eyesight, everyone was able to see how our satellite tries to extinguish our light. Only for a moment, of course.
And to think that in the old days such knowledge was only available to priests and they used it to manipulate the people... We are not fooled and now we know when such a phenomenon occurs.
On Thursday, we had the opportunity to see how large scientific events are organised; we participated in the XXXIV Forum of Pedagogues, prepared by the Institute of Pedagogy of the University of Wrocław. We had mathematical presentations there, and showed a lesson on silence. There were also practical exercises in Positive Discipline.
Who knows, maybe one day we will study there?
What's new at the Academy?
