Winter is a period that is not very conducive to outdoor nature observations. With enough creativity and the availability of educational aids, however, biology lessons need not be boring at all.
This week our students repeated news about the structure of humans. They painted the digestive, nervous, circulatory and locomotor systems on T-shirts, visualizing theoretical knowledge on a living model. They made microscopic observations of mosses, potato hairs and onions from their own culture.
They learned about the common features of arthropods, the variety and richness of species of this group and their adaptations to the environment.
They participated in a conversation about how to grow vegetables inspired by the Native American legend of the three sisters: corn, beans and pumpkin.
