In our Montessori Academy there are students and teachers of different nationalities and religions. It is the perfect environment to learn to respect the worldview of others and to understand the diversity of cultures and faiths. Recently, we had a visitor who is knowledgeable about different religions and more.
Karol Fjałkowski - is a publicist and social activist, and is active in the Council of the Worldview Forum Foundation. He participates in public religious and worldview debates.
During the meeting, he explained to us what religion is, the reasons for practising and believing in different religions. We learned about different beliefs, cults and the three main monotheistic religions most prevalent in the world: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
We also learned about the dangers of religion, such as being uncritical of authority or religious fanaticism. We talked about the activities of sects, learning about the characteristics of such dangerous religious groups.
We discussed the concept of atheism, learning that there are many different ways of seeing the world and spirituality.
Montessori education does not promote any religion, but encourages respect and acceptance of religious diversity. Religious tolerance is embedded in the very essence of Montessori values and aims to build a society that respects and appreciates differences between people.
